News updates to support international students -20 July 2020

As a way to support international students, the Australian government  has made few key visa changes to ensure international students are not impacted by te COVID-19 pandemic, including:

◻️ Recommence granting student visas to all student visas lodged outside Australia, meaning that once borders are re-opened students can travel to Australia.

◻️ International students who are unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19  are able to lodge a further student visa application free of charge.

◻️ The current online studies undertaken offshore by student visa holders due to COVID-19, will be able to use that study to count towards the Australian study requirement for a post-study work visa.

◻️ Graduates who held a student visa will be eligible to apply for a post-study work visa offshore if they are unable to return due to the impact of COVID-19.

◻️ Additional time will be given for candidates to provide English language results where COVID-19 has impacted the access to these services.

Also to note that during the covid 19,  there were easements in work restrictions for international student visa holders in certain sectors ;mainly health, aged and disability, also in situations where international students were not able to attend their classrooms in person.
